SUMMER Chimes (July/August Combo):
Please submit articles for the JUNE Chimes by Friday, June 14, 2013 to Aimee Coleman (acoleman@bethanylutheran.org).
JUNE Event for the Music Ministry:
Bethany’s Composer event is coming again this year. Dr. Aaron David Miller will be our guest composer/conductor. He will help lead the musicians and choir for worship during our 8:00 & 10:55AM services on Sunday, June 2. He will also be working with our choir on Thursday, May 30 and Saturday, June 1.
Dr. Miller’s compositions have won critical acclaim. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied organ performance with David Craighead, Russell Saunders, David Higgs, and Michael Farris, and composition with Samuel Adler and Joseph Schwantner. His graduate studies were taken at the Manhattan School of Music, where he completed his Master’s degree and DMA, studying composition and organ performance with McNeil Robinson. Dr. Miller serves as the Director of Music and Organist at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mark your calendar’s now & plan to join us on June 2 for some very special worship services.
Dinner with Doug Hensley:
When our former principal, Doug Hensley, hired me to serve as Bethany’s first computer lab teacher, he told me he envisioned a day when students would no longer need a computer lab because they would each carry portable computers from class to class. Mr. Hensley turned out to be quite the “prophet”: this September, Bethany Lutheran School will launch its iPad initiative!
Mr. Hensley isn’t just a whiz at predicting the future, he is also famous for his world travels and his storytelling abilities. And to help us fund our iPad initiative, he has agreed to pay a visit to Bethany to share his slides and stories from his own travels to India! Anyone who has listened to one of Doug’s travel talks can tell you what a wonderful experience this will be…something you won’t want to miss.
So save the date, Friday, June 14, for a very special dinner and evening with our very own Doug Hensley and the chance to support our iPad initiative. Watch for ticket sales in Friendship Square in the weeks to come, and thank you for your support! - Dr. Mary Fink, Principal

Are You Receiving The Bethany Bullet?
The Bethany Bullet is a weekly capsule of worship highlights and big information that your brain may or may not have 'downloaded' from the prior Sunday. The purpose is to bolster you in faith, build you up in the key Biblical themes shared the previous Sunday in worship, to bring to mind the important issues on Bethany's plate and to broaden your awareness of opportunities of service to your Lord, your church, and your community.
