Why Choose Bethany Lutheran Preschool?
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why choose Bethany Lutheran Preschool?
A: We have an excellent developmental program, fully accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation commission of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We have a 36 year tradition of excellent early childhood education, along with a very low staff turnover rate – several of our staff members have been here over 30 years. Most have taught in the early childhood field of education for over 20 years.
Q: How many students attend the preschool?
A: We are licensed for 60 children per day. We have five classrooms.
Q: What is the teacher/student ratio?
A: In the two smaller classrooms (for age 2 and young 3), the ratio is 1:10. In the three larger classrooms (older 3 and 4), the ratio is 1:12. We also have two floating assistants who are in the classrooms when needed.
Q: Which classroom or age group will my child be in?
A: Students are placed in the classroom that is appropriate for their age. Typically, it is based on the child’s chronological age (on September 1st) and developmental needs.
Q: Do the children wear uniforms?
A: No. We encourage the children to wear comfortable clothing that can be easily laundered.
Q: What is the enrollment process?
A: While we welcome applications year round, we officially begin accepting applications for the next year on February 1 for existing students, siblings and congregational members. Open enrollment for the general public begins March 1.
Enrollment packets may be downloaded and printed from this website or interested parties can call Nola Seaman at 562-429-7335 or email nseaman@bethanylutheran.org and request a tour of the facility and an enrollment packet can be obtained at that time. We do not give tours during nap time. (12:00 noon-2:30 pm) When the enrollment forms are complete, they can be returned with the registration fee—this secures a place for the child. Another packet of required forms is given out when the registration fee is paid. This second completed packet can be returned any time before the child begins school.
Q: What is your admission policy?
A: Enrollment is open to children who are between the ages of 2 and 5. Children must reach the required age for the class they are entering by September 1 of the year they are entering. A child may be enrolled after a parent/Director interview to determine the child’s readiness for preschool.
We do not require two year old children to be potty trained, but we do have a quota on the number of non-trained children we can accept.
Bethany Lutheran Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities made available to the students. Discrimination based on race, color, sex, age, disability, or national origin is prohibited. We will accept most agency assisted financial programs.
