The Story in Review-  Chapter Twenty-eight

In chapter 28 we transition for the Historical Act of the Miracle of the Resurrection to the Historical account of the book of Acts and the miraculous growth of the church through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Acts, written by St. Luke, is written to Theophilus.  There are those who believe this individual was in fact the philanthropist who funded Luke’s research and writing; there are others who believe that this designation is a code name for all Christians who will through the centuries read Luke’s work.  Theophilus means “lover of God.”

Regardless of whether “God-lover” was a specific individual or all individuals whom the Holy Spirit draws into The Story chapter 28 is certainly about those who love God because He first loved them.  Peter, Philip, Stephen and countless unnamed Gentiles, including those reading this review are included, through the work of the Spirit, in the list of those rightly called “lovers of God.”
